Vol.2 |

About Departure Vol.2 is a curated visual journal containing nine drawings. It keeps the method and motive used in About Departure and presents an extended version. The collection of drawings marks some significant and insignificant details throughout my rather static journey in Melbourne during 2020. The drawings were created in both Brunswick West and Kew during the two lockdowns in Victoria, Australia due to COVID-19. The drawings are organised in chronological order. Some of them are put together due to their closeness in the situation, yet distant, often opposite, in how they are intended or perceived. The drawings hint at a variety of loose ideas. For example, Shell | Shells is a pair of drawings depicting my reflections of two movies that I watched during lockdown, the notion of “Shell” in both movies made its appearance in a metaphorical way - one about body and another about home. I realised later is that being shelled has two opposite meanings: one is to have a protective outer case, and another is to have the covering removed.

About Departure Vol.2 was exhibited in the Pea Green Boat Exhibition: Unleashed, from 11th to 13th December, 2020.
